A Parisian Woman is someone who radiates effortless fashion. In America we can’t seem to grasp the same mind-set of the Parisian’s. Their world is glamorous, whether it really is or isn’t. I find myself going to them for style inspiration and a little slap in the face when I’m wanting to wear sweatpants. As I grab myself another cup of coffee and make sure my lips are moisturized and my hair is all in place (when writing about Parisian women, one must feel like a Parisian woman), lets talk about that french fashion we all know and love so dearly.
First and for most, I want to talk about the woman who started french fashion, none the less the world: Mademoiselle Coco Chanel. She invented the modern woman with simply showcasing her everyday fashion in a world that had too many so-called “rules”. She is a style icon for a reason and is one that started Parisian fashion with women who are not followers but creators.
The pictures I chose above are ones that I felt topped the list in french fashion. It really wasn’t hard because a Parisian woman stands out in a crowd of millions. Just find the woman who looks the most nonchalant, effortlessly cool, and radiates that easy everyday fashion look that every woman wants to pull off. Take the woman sitting on the sand with her impeccable white trench coat with the fur collar. Her face shows you that she has no worries in the world. Probably in the same clothes from the night before, but still looks as chic as ever. Did I mention she’s sitting on dirty brown sand in a beautiful white coat? I wish I had a little more of that careless trait in me.
The two runway photos are from Paris Fashion Week SS14. The one on the left is Chloe and the right is Wes Gordon. Both of these looks caught my eye the first time I saw them. The Chloe runway look is one that I really have no words for. I love the straight middle parted hair, I love the white long-sleeved dress with the studs and the white chiffon coming out of the bottom. And do I really need to say how well paired those heels are? The slip on, wine colored, fur heels are to die for. Speechless. Now for the Wes Gordon look. I am very much into the sweater and lace look. I can see myself going to grab lunch or just to grab coffee and macaroons in this dress that just screams Parisian fashion. Maybe that’s why I love this look so much. It can be casual but dressy, effortless and simple, which is exactly my cup of tea.
Street Style is one of my favorite go-to’s when it comes to fashion inspiration. It’s the real deal. I love that time of the year when Paris Fashion Week fills the internet and all social media’s. I just recently read that women that wear all black have the most colorful lives. I love that and I love wearing all black. I think this look is one of the most classic and iconic looks. From Audrey Hepburn to Carine Roitfeld, who is one of Paris’s leading fashion icons and former Editor-in-chief of French Vogue.
Last, but not least, Celine and Daria Werbowy. I love this ad for Celine and they couldn’t have picked a better model to shoot it with. This is the Parisian woman. Taking a bath in a vintage bath tub, with her hair perfectly done, little to no make up on and wearing diamonds without a care in the world. I’m sure she is also bathing in the best smelling bath salts and probably just got home from dancing the night away.
